- In Windows path rules,
C:\folder\is still valid. - But Robocopy parses arguments differently than normal Win32 APIs:
- It sometimes strips the last backslash and treats it as an escape character if quotes aren’t handled correctly.
- With
\right before a closing quote, Robocopy sees it as escaping the quote, making the path invalid.
So the issue isn’t the backslash itself — it’s the combination of backslash + quotes.
