  • In Windows path rules, C:\folder\ is still valid.
  • But Robocopy parses arguments differently than normal Win32 APIs:
    • It sometimes strips the last backslash and treats it as an escape character if quotes aren’t handled correctly.
    • With \ right before a closing quote, Robocopy sees it as escaping the quote, making the path invalid.

So the issue isn’t the backslash itself — it’s the combination of backslash + quotes.
